Stone casket

If after repair you have left a decorative textured plaster, primer with quartz filler, empty spools of adhesive tape, do not rush to throw them out, all this may be useful for making caskets. First you need to make the basis for the casket. Materials that will be needed for this: reel of adhesive tape, thick cardboard, simple pencil, scissors, white glue.
 materials for the casket
Outline the pencil diameter of the reel (in the photo it is indicated by a green dotted line). We carry out this manipulation three times. Get three identical circles. We will leave one for the bottom of the box. Two others will be useful for the top of the lid of our casket. The blue dotted line marks the approximate diameter of the circle, which should be greater than the diameter of the bottom - this is the basis for the lid, the largest circle.
 make the bottom
And now we circle the inside diameter to make circle, which will be glued to the bottom of the cover. It is needed so that the lid does not slip off the casket. And since we will then plaster the entire product with plaster, increasing the thickness of the walls, this circle should be reduced so that the lid can be freely put on the box. Red dotted line shows how much approximately it is necessary to reduce the circle and cut the finished part.

It remains to work with glue to get the basis for the box. In the picture, three identical circles are marked in green, which we received when we circled the outer diameter of the reel - one for the bottom and two others for the top of the lid. Blue is the circle that turned out when we increased the outer diameter of the reel to make the basis for the lid. In red, the circle we made by first circling the inside diameter of the reel and then reducing it.
 cut
Glue the bottom.

The basis for the box is ready. The lid is also glued - two identical circles glued on top of the base of the lid one by one for thickness. In the pictures, the cap is visible from above and below. In the graphics editor, I showed where the circle was pasted.

 Basis for the casket
We coat the foundation with special primer, containing quartz sand. In this example, the soil is water soluble, does not smell, dries quickly. Typically, this soil is sold in special hardware stores. They are covered with walls before applying decorative textured plasters (putties) for better adhesion (adhesion with the surface).

After the soil has dried, you can apply decorative plaster. It usually has a thick cream consistency, containing fillers, which, after drying, give an uneven stony texture. The plaster can be made colored by adding special colored tinted pastes, which are sold in construction shops or ordinary acrylic paints. The pictures use the colored pigments of the German MIXOL brand. The hue was chosen in accordance with the color of the starfish, as initially the color of the box was planned for just that.

Stucco is applied with a brush, successively, with intermediate drying . First we cover the inside and the edge. Then, when dry, apply the mixture on the outer surface and leave to dry in an inverted form. We do the same with a lid - first we process one side, then we dry, then the other.
 cover with a mixture
After the plaster has completely dried, it depends on the temperature and humidity in the room - from 3.5 - 4 hours and more, the product should be sanded with emery paper.
 we clean
In the process, it became clear that we need to add some more shade, complicate color box Therefore, color pigments of the same brand were used as before - MIXOL No. 22, which is a brown pigment. It was added to a transparent semi-glossy water-soluble paint, which, when dried, gives a waterproof film.In building stores there are usually similar acrylic dispersion compositions on sale.
is applied with a brush pigment
Thanks to the screed, which is applied with a brush, the pigment is evenly distributed over the surface . Sponge grouting should be done almost immediately so that the relief is lighter than the deeper layers of the texture.

The next stage - patinated. For these purposes, any suitable gold, water-soluble paint, you can take acrylic - one of the many golden shades. The picture used acrylic lacquer with the addition of metallized pigment paste. Use a dry brush to draw paint, rub it on paper, then apply it on the very top of the relief with light, multidirectional movements. Strongly and deeply paint over, remove excess paint from the brush. The result should be an effect, as if we are facing an old uneven surface, darkened from time to time but gleaming in places.
 patination
Here's what happened: water-soluble paint On this, probably could stop. If, however, there is still a desire and a creative fuse, we continue to decorate. For the next step, you will need some detail, for example, dried starfish, twine, super glue.
 what happened
decorations are thought out on the go Decoration elements are invented on the go. While the glue is slightly thickening, we roll the twine, cut off the unnecessary and press it to the surface.
