How to keep warm at home

You will need
  • - Styrofoam
  • - loose insulation
  • - silicone sealant
  • - polyurethane foam
  • - lumber
  • - wood screws
  • - screwdriver
In order that heat did not leave the house, it is required to carry out high-quality warming of walls and overlappings. Need to start with the last. Stages of insulation of a private house are few, but some of them are very labor intensive.
First of all, you need to inspect the attic and inspect how strong its floor. From this will depend on the choice of material for insulation upper overlap. If it is able to withstand additional weight, you can use the simplest method of insulation - pour a layer of expanded clay, sawdust or dry river sand on the floor of the attic. If the lining of the upper slab is weak, it is dismantled, and in the intervals between the beams, foam plastic or mineral wool slabs are laid. Then the trim is returned to the place.
More difficult to warm the floor. To do this, you will need to open it and either pour loose insulation onto the ground, or proceed to the installation of the supporting strips. For this purpose, you can use any suitable lumber: slab, OSB (cut into strips 8-10 cm wide), boards, solid slats or bars. The wood is fixed under the lags, attaching it to them with screws on the tree. After that, in the openings between the lags lay insulation. If the foam is laid, the gap must be filled with foam. Then floorboards are re-laid.
Often the main heat leak occurs through the windows. Here the main attention should be paid to the insulation of frames. The gaps are filled with waterproof and frost-resistant silicone sealant, putty, cotton wool, tow, sealed with paper or special foam tape on a sticky basis.
If metal-plastic windows are installed, but they do not keep heat well, the reason should be sought in improperly mounted slopes. These canvases should be removed, in the intervals lay insulation (or fill them with foam) and set in place. Do the same in the case that the doors are “cold”.
Brick has a higher thermal conductivity than wood. Therefore, internal insulation will not be enough. The most effective is considered external, consisting of the installation of heat insulating sheets on the outside of the building walls. For this purpose it is better to choose sheet foam. This material does not absorb moisture and is easily glued to the brick.
First, you should build a wooden frame, consisting of strips with a pitch between them equal to the width of the insulation. It lay in the gaps between the racks of the frame. Upon completion of work on top of the foam mount finishing material: siding, decking, front panels.
